There are many ways to give back to help others and the community. Soaring High Cooperative donates a generous portion of its proceeds from each and every film it produces.
Angel Entertainment Foundation is an organization devoted to teaching abused and troubled youth from the age of 10 to 18 the art of film making, video and music production. We use these expressive disciplines as a way to heal the soul and provide a positive environment for struggling youth to communicate their feelings. This is done in a supervised environment, we do have counselors on staff.
We work in conjunction with Soaring High Entertainment Co-Op, so we can provide professional instruction utilizing people that have years of experience in the industry, we also provide labs in acting, script writing, direction, set design, musical scoring, basically anything having to do with production.
1. Give the youth a sense of identity. Often with abuse kids lose their self esteem, turn to outside negative influences to cope. Through the performing arts they gain it back and feel they have value. Expression through creativity has been proven to be a positive form of therapy.
2. Give the youth a safe place where they can interact and build social skills.
3. To use the performing arts to teach valuable life skills, give them the opportunity to enjoy the feeling of success, the courage and motivation to reach for their dreams.
Rates of substance abuse and domestic violence are increasing in every city across America. With budget cuts extra curricular activities like the arts are removed from public schools at an alarming rate. A three-year study by The Arts Education Partnership showed that involvement in the arts triggers the right side of the brain, which is used in making connections, problem solving and developing social skills. The study also showed that schools that have art in the curriculum (this includes visual art, music and drama) also have higher attendance and better behavior.Out of all the arts, there is compelling evidence that music is the most important skill. Learning an instrument gives children a voice they would not normally have. We at Angel feel we can join others around the country that are reaching out to troubled youth in making a difference. We want to be instrumental in turning this trend around.
The Angel Entertainment Foundation is always open to programs similar to ours around the country participating in what we do, sharing ideas, our film festival and award programs.
